Members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) demonstrated yesterday in front of the offices of the Ministry of State Services (DSS) in Jeolla, the capital of Adamawa, to demand the release of its members. They started their protest from Justice Buba Ardu Rudd from the PDP headquarters to the DSS office in Yola where they presented their complaint letter.
Among the PDP members who were allegedly illegally detained for seven days without trial were Yusuf Mohamed, Zira John and Solomon Ephhras.
Tahir Sheikho, state chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party, a lawyer who has led hundreds of protesters, said the protests were necessary because its members had been detained since last week. Sheikho said that its members have been detained for a period exceeding the constitutional period, which indicates that their basic human rights have been violated.
